About
Currently I am completing an M.S. in Library Media and Information Technology at NSU. When I decided to pursue a master’s degree to prepare me to re-enter the workforce, I realized the Library field offered a great fit for my particular talents.
A lifelong love of literature led to a B.A. in English. Working on computers in many previous jobs has given me skills and comfort with technologies that are relevant to today’s media centers.
I believe the library media program should be fully integrated into the curriculum and function as an extension of the classroom. Information literacy skills should be taught in partnership with teachers and students. The teacher contributes knowledge of content and student needs, and the media specialist contributes knowledge of resources and technology and understanding of teaching methods and strategies to help students obtain information skills that empower them to become life long, independent learners.
